The Models of Future Development of Libraries for Youth

This year process of trainings of specialists of regional libraries for youth has finished by teaching deputies of directors of regional libraries for youth which is already traditionally organized by the State library of Ukraine for youth jointly with the State academy of leading personnel of culture and arts.   

A theme „The Models of Future Development of Libraries for Youth" was chosen not by chance. Modern youth libraries have already „outgrown" their statute functions. Today they are powerful institutions, which by giving information, satisfy different necessities and inquiries of youth and young people, the same taking care of all their problems and constantly, by growing tempos, efficiency and quality of their work.

The deputies of directors had possibility to hear consultations, to look through presentations of director deputies of the State library of Ukraine for youth V.І. Mogylevetz`, T.O. Yakushko, a manager of the scientific and methodical department T. P. Sopova, the main methodist T.M. Nikitinska, a sociologist N.V. Payanok.

The speeches of specialists of the National parliamentary library of Ukraine were useful. Director of the National parliamentary library of Ukraine T.I. Vylegjanina began meeting in the library walls by the salutes. Director deputy G.S. Kyrychenko explained the basic directions of activity of the library. Scientific secretary N.I. Rozkolupa consulted the audience about the normative-regulating documents, in particular about functioning of „Instruction of Registration of Documents, that is in Library Funds". In addition, the presentations of specialists S.M. Kravchenko, T.V. Kryshevych, S.F. Bakan were interesting and useful.

The teaching included also a meeting with librarians of the M. Ostrovs`kyi Central specialized library for blind people, which gave possibility for library specialists for youth to deepen their knowledge, to hear information about not an ordinary experience of work with people with limitations in the vital functions.

Teachers from the State academy of leading personnel of culture and arts, namely department manager, professor V.K. Scknar, director of institute of postgraduate education, professor I.O. Shevchenko, deputy manager of department O.M. Gavel`, said in their lectures about the innovative forms of work of libraries for youth, general tendencies of development of library industry, efficiency of application of advertising in advancement of library services, psychological factors of management by personnel, etc.
The speech of director of Centre of information and documentation of NATO Mishel Dyure made a great impression on the audience. Mishel Dyure not only told about work of heading by him establishment, the main tasks of NATO, but also shattered the myths about activity of NATO. A special interest and even discussion caused a question „NATO and Ukraine". Each of participants had a possibility to put a question that he was interested in, and to get a competent answer. In addition people presented got the collections of the special literature.

The deputies of directors of regional libraries for youth were pleasantly impressed by acquaintance with activity of libraries of educational establishments, in particular with the Yaroslav the Wise International library-informative centre, the Interregional academy of personnel management and the Scientific library of the National university „Kyiv-Mogylyanska academy" (new premises).

Participants of the teaching, by filling offered to them questionnaires, expressed their opinion about organization of the teaching. Pleasant is the fact that in general all had such an opinion: the teaching was effective and useful, and expressed to us the wish: „Well done!"
